Restrictions on AI voice and generation features

Overwater's read-aloud voice is not recorded by a person; it is a synthetic voice generated on your device by AI, and some guidance text in plant Wiki entries is also AI-generated. Users may not use these voice or generation features, or their output (the generated voice or text), to:

These restrictions follow the usage terms of the on-device model used for the read-aloud voice (Supertonic-3 by Supertone, Inc., under the BigScience Open RAIL-M License). The same restrictions and the BigScience Open RAIL-M License terms also apply if the bundled model itself, or any copy extracted from the app, is used or redistributed separately. The full license text is available in the app's "Open Source & Data Sources" screen.

Change history

Below is the revision record of this document prior to its effective date. The Overwater Plus paid subscription that appears in earlier rows was never actually sold (no product was ever registered with the stores), and from v1.5 the app is entirely free.

VersionEffective dateSummary of changes
1.02026-05-14Initial enactment. Reflected the transition to a Personal Daily App, included the Overwater Plus paid subscription, and set out the guardian-approval procedure for users under 14
1.12026-05-24Reflected the first-release policy. Plus features opened free of charge; no in-app IAP or subscription purchase
1.22026-06-04Removed the launch-promotion wording about opening Plus to everyone free (aligned with ADR-018, which did not adopt it). Stated Plus as a paid extension while keeping "no in-app purchase in the current version"
1.32026-06-21Added the AI-synthesized-voice notice and usage restrictions for the on-device read-aloud voice (Supertonic-3, BigScience Open RAIL-M) to §5 (ADR-022 license flow-down)
1.42026-08-15Reflected the removal of plant species identification — corrected "plant identification and diagnosis" in the §4 core feature list and the §5 responsibility clause to "pest and disease diagnosis," and "AI identification results" in the §10 disclaimer to "AI diagnosis results." The identification screen, server route, and external transmission path had been removed from the product, so the Terms were describing a feature that no longer existed. Changed the effective date from a fixed date to "the app's initial release date" (pinning a date before release drifts every time the launch slips — the same handling as privacy policy v2.2). Changed the publication location in §2 and §3 from overwater.app to onsoonlabs.com/overwater (the old website was retired and the canonical homepage moved). Unified the §9 and §11 contact address to support@onsoonlabs.com. Reflected the removal of pest and disease diagnosis — removed diagnosis from the §4 core feature list and corrected "diagnosis results" in §5 and §10 to "AI-generated text." The feature that sent photos to the server was gone
1.5On the app's first release dateReflected the confirmed move to fully free — deleted "Plus" from the §2 definitions and revised §7 from "Plus features" to "Fees," stating that the entire app is free and that no payment, subscription, or refund procedure exists. Also removed the "in the current version" qualifier in §4. Since a paid subscription was never introduced (no IAP was registered with the stores), no transitional clause for existing subscribers or refund guidance is included. Clause numbering and document structure were left unchanged
1.6On the app's first release dateReflected the removal of the Today LLM summary. Removed the description of the Today tab's AI briefing and listed only the AI generation paths that actually remain — the fishing summary and plant Wiki and shopping guide — in the voice/generation usage restrictions and the free-of-charge scope.
1.7On the app's first release dateReflected the removal of the plant shopping guide. It became unreachable after plant identification was removed, so it was deleted along with it. The shopping guide was removed from the AI generation usage restrictions (§5) and the free-of-charge scope (§7); the remaining AI generation paths, the fishing summary and plant Wiki entries, are unchanged. Users' rights and obligations are unaffected. v1.6 had not taken effect yet, but it had already been published at onsoonlabs.com/overwater/terms, so its text is left as published and this is issued as a new version.
1.8On the app's first release dateReflected the end of AI generation for fishing summaries. The fishing tool's copy is now derived deterministically from Korea Meteorological Administration and Korea Hydrographic and Oceanographic Agency figures, so it is no longer an AI generation path. The fishing summary was removed from the AI voice/generation usage restrictions (§5) and the free-of-charge scope (§7); the AI generation paths that remain are plant Wiki entries and the on-device read-aloud voice. Users' rights and obligations are unaffected. v1.7 had not taken effect yet, but it had already been published at onsoonlabs.com/overwater/terms, so its text is left as published and this is issued as a new version.

These Terms are written based on Korean law.
